Counter Monument Description:
For my counter monument I decided to make a shrine to the fallen "Man on the Mountain" figure that was very prevalent in New Hampshire. I wanted to do this piece because New Hampshire is somewhat of a failing/troubled state and losing their "mascot" of sorts seems to fit into what they are experiencing within the state. I decided to name the piece "Fallen Men on the Mountain" because there are many people falling in New Hampshire, not just their totem. I decided to place it in the entrance of the FDR memorial due to the open space and the swooning trees over the top of the granite and stone maze. New Hampshire being the "Granite State," this seemed fitting to place it here due to its correlation with nature.
